While Raleigh is certainly a busy, growing city, our state’s capital also offers down home Southern charm and a modern-meets-historic feel. Leigh and William’s downtown wedding couldn’t have embodied this more! The historic charm of the Merrimon-Wynne House combined with beautiful fresh greenery and flowers made for a truly elegant wedding.

Leigh looked elegant and graceful in a satin gown with intricate embellished overlay and cap sleeves. William waited eagerly to have a first look at his bride, looking handsome himself in a sleek navy suit with light blue tie. His boutonniere, a peach rose, popped against the blue of his suit and complemented Leigh’s bouquet perfectly!

Leigh’s bouquet was a vibrant arrangement of peach and blue blooms, various shades of pink roses, and fresh greenery.

The ceremony was held outside on the beautifully manicured landscape of the historic home. Guests were surrounded by gorgeous natural greenery, fresh flowers, and the grandeur of the carefully restored home. Despite being in the heart of downtown Raleigh, the ceremony was private and intimate.

The intimacy and elegance of the ceremony was maintained throughout the reception. Pale peach roses, tall blue candles and satin napkins, fresh greenery, gold votives and decorous vases sat atop white linens. The menu was made up of dishes local to North Carolina, with a map detailing the sources. Romantic, candid photos of Leigh and William and dated photos of family members gave the reception even more of a personal feel.

Leigh and William’s cake was a sophisticated four-tiered buttercream with gorgeous, vibrant floral arrangements on alternating tiers. After enjoying a beautiful evening toasting, eating, dancing, and celebrating with loved ones, it was time for the newlyweds to say farewell to their guests and embark on forever together. Friends and family gathered around with sparklers to send Leigh and William off down the front steps of the classic home, making the perfect ending to an elegant day!
